My name is Andrew Kahn, and I am a Principal Security Engineer at Unum Group, a leading provider of employee benefits and insurance solutions. I have over 15 years of experience in the cybersecurity and networking field, working with various organizations to protect their data and systems from cyber threats.
I have always been fascinated by technology and communication. I graduated from Ohio University with a Master's of Communication and a Bachelor's of Science in Communication, majoring in Information and Telecommunication Systems. At OU, I was part of the McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies, where I explored the latest trends and innovations in the field. I also organized "ITS Day 2013," a showcase of student projects and research.
My interest in cybersecurity grew from my hobby of ham radio operation. I decided to pursue it as a career and obtained several certifications, including CISSP, CCSP, Zscaler Certified Administrator, CEH, CTIA, and CCISO.
I joined Unum Group as a Principal Security Engineer, focusing on further maturing Unum's Cyber Threat Intelligence program. I play an active role, leading a morning standup to disseminate recent vulnerabilities, threats, OSINT, and legal changes, and guide Global Information Security teams in mitigating vulnerabilities.
I am passionate about learning new skills and technologies related to cybersecurity and sharing my knowledge with others. I am an active chapter leader of the Fuel User Group, a global community of Palo Alto Networks users. I have been featured as a Fuel Testimonial, where I shared my experience and best practices with using Palo Alto Networks products. I am an active member of the (ISC)² Cleveland Chapter.
I was nominated for Cleveland Jewish News' 12 Under 36, an award that recognizes young Jewish professionals who are making a difference in their communities. Additionally, I received the Miami Valley School Honors, Young Alumni Award in 2024.
